Oscar 2023: RRR made history and Best Documentary Academy Award winner.

India has won the Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Documentary at the Oscars 2023. The 95th Academy Awards is taking place in Los Angeles, United States.

 

The song ‘Naatu Naatu‘ from SS Rajamouli’s RRR created history by becoming the first Indian feature film to receive an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category. The music director of Naatu Naatu song MM Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj, and Kala Bhairav has sung the song. Chandrabose has written the lyrics of the song Naatu Naatu. The cast of this movie is NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson etc.

 

Slumdog Millionaire won Best Original Song for Jai Ho in 2009. RRR has a second award in the Best Original Song category. Naatu Naatu‘s song was nominated with Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun: Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and This Is A Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once). MM Keeravani and Chandrabose have received the award.

The Elephant Whispers has won the award for Best Documentary Short Subject. ‘The Elephant Whispers’ is an Indian-American Tamil short documentary. The documentary is directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Douglas Blush, Kartiki Gonsalves, Naval Kishore, Guneet Monga, and Achin Jain.

Hallout, How Do You Measure an Year?, The Martha Mitchell Effect, and Stranger at the Gate are also nominated, along with The Elephant Whisperers. Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga have received Oscars award.
