During British rule, Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule brought attention to the caste system, discrimination based on gender, and education of girls. Jyotirao Phule was given the designation of “Mahatma” in honour. The director and writer of the film is Anant Mahadevan. The film is producer by Pranay Chokshi, Jagdish Patel, Anuya Chauhan Kudecha, Ritesh Kudecha and Suunil Jaiin under the banner kingsmen productions.

Phule is a biographical film that will tell about the iconic and legendary couple Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule. In the film, Prateek Gandhi plays Mahatama Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, while his wife Savitribai Phule plays Patralekha Paul.
